Schuyler County Disc Golf (SCDG) is a nonprofit formed in 2023 with the mission of building a culture of inclusivity, collaboration, strengthening community ties, and promoting growth in west central Illinois. To us at SCDG the sport of disc golf goes beyond the course. It’s a community that we’re proud to represent and support in our little corner of the world.
We at SCDG think it’s important to have a single consistent voice to advocate on behalf of the disc golf community in West Central Illinois. Whether it be advocating to municipalities, park districts, businesses, school boards, etc., we seek to share the many benefits our sport has to offer on and off the course.
Illinois counties within our service region include Adams, Brown, Cass, Fulton, Hancock, Mason, McDonough, Menard, Morgan, Pike, Sangamon, Schuyler, and Tazewell.
This is an 18 hole course that is currently in development in Rushville, IL. It’s designed to be beginner to intermediate friendly while still providing a fun and technical course for experienced players. This course will be perfect for new players and youth.
The goal of this program is to provide local clubs with valuable insights into their course performance and help them grow their player base. By tracking metrics such as player demographics, event attendance, park amenities, and course performance, we aim to develop inclusive, safe, and family-friendly disc golf environments. Our Course Advocate partners receive full support from SCDG to advocate on their behalf to municipalities, schools, and parks, fostering mutually beneficial collaborations.
We are developing a disc golf curriculum that will be geared for players at any skill level. This curriculum would be taught in an interactive clinic format at courses throughout West Central Illinois.
Learn everything you need to know about playing competitively in the world of disc golf. These clinics will cover everything from the rules of sanctioned Professional Disc Golf Associate (PDGA) events to general tournament etiquette.
These clinics will be designed to teach youth players the basics of disc golf and leadership skills in a team environment.
A successful tournament takes a lot of work before, during, and even after the event itself. However, the positive impact to the surrounding community is well worth the effort. Our goal with this program is to provide tournament planning support for clubs in West Central Illinois and teach all the skills necessary to be a great tournament director.
We at SCDG realize that for disc golf to continue growing, we need to engage the next generation of players proactively. By providing a collaborative and inclusive community and supporting the growth and development of local courses, we hope to provide an environment that will attract the next generation of disc golfers.
We would love to see disc golf being taught in local schools, high school teams competing, and even college teams representing our corner of the world. More importantly, we want to empower the next generation to make a difference by continuing to grow the culture of inclusivity, collaboration, and sense of community that makes disc golf so great.
Everything we do here at SCDG is done on a volunteer basis and all our services/resources are provided to our community for free. We’re passionate about our mission and want to continue to keep it free. However, as with anything, there is a cost to make our vision become a reality. Our organization is entirely funded by donations, grants, and sponsorships that we receive.
